I have lived at Wheaton Towers for a year and a half and I can honestly say I have never been so disappointed by a company’s management. I read some negative reviews before moving here and honestly thought that those were probably “difficult” tenants or “hard to please” tenants, but I now realized I should have listened. The leasing agents I worked with as well as the maintenance staff have been nothing short of amazing, friendly, and extremely helpful. It isn’t until you are stuck in your lease that you have to deal with the awful management.  The extreme dissatisfaction I have faced has all been at the hands of the management company Draper ad Kramer and specifically the Property Manager Kelli Stuart.

While I have lived here, my apartment has flooded 6 times due to plumbing issues that are in the wall, having nothing to do with my apartment. I have had my toilet removed from the base 4 times, leaving my place smelling like sewage from 530pm-1045 at night. I had to leave due to the smell and inability to use my only bathroom. Due to the flooding, I have had to have my carpet cleaned and new padding installed three times. The culprit is supposedly someone flushing baby wipes. However when I have expressed my displeasure to Kelli, especially at the time of lease renewal, she was extremely rude, not one bit empathetic and refused to do anything about the situation because they “fixed it every time” (it has happened twice since that meeting). She spoke over me multiple times and was extremely patronizing.

Another large issue I have dealt with is the parking, or should I say lack-there-of. You can pay extra for a garage spot, but on top of an already high rent and mandatory facilities fee (that also increase every year), I simply cannot afford to pay more. If you don’t arrive home by 6pm on the weekend, finding a spot in the multiple parking lots is near impossible. If you don’t find a spot in the lot, you can park in the commuter parking garage, but need to move your car by 8am the next morning or pay for the parking spot. This is extremely frustrating for someone who goes to the gym after work and works from home a few days a week. No one should have to pay to park outside where they live. It is ridiculous that the property can’t provide enough parking for their tenants.

Along with all of that, there is a unit directly below with an irresponsible dog owner who has a dog that literally barks all day long. I have been told because he is a lawyer, they will not do anything and they sure haven’t. All they recommend is calling the police which we have done several times however with no one home is makes no difference.

I write this Wheaton Center Review in hopes of saving someone else the trouble of dealing with Wheaton Center Towers Management. Don’t be fooled by the flashy pool and brightly colored gym like I was. They will get you in and take you for everything you’re worth.

Wheaton Center Health Club

You only have two options to break your lease. Pay three months rent (roughly $3,600) or find a subtenant. Kelli, the property manager, mentioned that even death is not a valid reason to terminate your lease and your family will be responsible for the fees. The leasing office promises that the apartment will be cleaned prior to moving in, but prepare to do the work yourself. You can hear everything your neighbors are doing at all times due to the plumbing or paper thin walls.
